Continual monitoring is the key to maximising the health of an operational public access network. The NetShift Enterprise Remote Monitor presents data in a configurable visual display, allowing usage and event patterns to be recognised and unusual circumstances noted.

Events received from Enterprise's public access network are received and recorded in the Enterprise database. Remote Monitor delves into the database and represents the events, colour-coded by type, in a graphical display of event data against time. This display is fully configurable and can be set to display data for any date and time window, allowing the operator to zoom in on a specific event if necessary. If data from any monitored device has not been received as expected, the display will highlight the errant device and an alert will be triggered.

The Remote Monitor display provides an at-a-glance view of events, either recent or historical, on the network. It allows patterns to be recognised and action can be taken to remedy any shortcomings or to maximise on user trends.

Controlling Alerts

Remote monitor is also used to set up the rule base that controls how anomalies, such as non-receipt of event data, are dealt with. Should a network anomaly occur, Enterprise's event-driven architecture will detect them, and the rule base will be used to dispatch the best solution to the problem. NetShift's Remote Monitor thus plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest possible network availability.
